Born in Holbrook, Derbyshire, England in 1970. First cartoon published in Derbyshire Times, aged 11. I left school before taking any exams, so I have no qualifications. I took my portfolio into A.R.F. Cartoons Derby, aged 16, and started work the next day getting training in all aspects of comic production. After only a few years I got offered a position as a in-house cartoonist for Acne, the alternative childrens comic, producing a staggering 22 pages a fortnight. I then went on to create my own publication, an environmental childrens comic called The Big Greenie. I love Doctor Who; watching films; fishing, which I would like to do more often; music; singing; playing guitar and cheese. My latest project is The Daily Dalek, an attempt to write, draw and publish to the web, 365 days of situation cartoons, featuring Dr Who’s oldest nemesis, the Daleks. I am however not alone as Mrs. ToneCartoons, co-writes the gags with me and checks my spelling. Like many artistic people I have dyslexia. I am a father of 7, stepfather of 5 (living with 8). I can work quickly and to a deadline. I work freelance from my home studio, whilst sharing the care of my disabled daughter, who has multiple sensory impairment and cerebral palsy. |
